When a child becomes an adult, their record transfers to them, history intact. Guardianship is explicit, recorded, and endable.

A family is not one file with four people in it.
Maya looks after two children and her father. That is four separate records, each belonging to the person named on it, with a different relationship attached to each one.

Transfer happens once, on a stated date. Her club and school shares end with the season, not with the transfer.

If Frank can no longer decide, the standing authority he set is used rather than an emergency guess. It is still recorded, and still endable.

Caregiver rights
What a caregiver may do, stated plainly.
Caring for someone is a relationship, and it comes with limits that are written down rather than assumed.
- Caregiver access is a grant on someone else's record, not a copy of it into yours.
- Being in the same household grants nothing. Every relationship is created explicitly and can be ended.
- A minor's record is theirs from the first entry. A parent acts on it; a parent does not own it.
- Confidential adolescent categories follow the rules of the state the person lives in, and the page says when something is withheld.
- An adult can name a care partner while they are well, and set what that person may see.
- Every read by a caregiver appears in the record owner's access history, including reads by a parent.
Handover
A child turns eighteen and keeps every year before it.
The moment a dependent record becomes an adult record is the moment most systems lose the childhood history. Here it is a transfer of control, not a new file.

A date is set, not guessed
Transfer is scheduled for the legal age in the person's state, or earlier if the parent chooses. Both people see the date in advance.

The record moves, the history does not reset
Immunizations from infancy, growth curves, the asthma plan, the concussion follow-up: all of it stays under the same person, now under their own sign-in.
- 03
Parent authority ends cleanly
The parent's access closes on the transfer date. What they added stays in the record, attributed to them, with the original documents attached.
- 04
The new owner decides what happens next
They can grant their parent care-partner access, keep them out, or grant a narrower version. Nothing is assumed from the old relationship.
